Employee Spotlight #5: Pierce Douglas
At Bongo, we understand a great product doesn’t happen without fantastic people behind it. With that in mind, we’d like to introduce the team who makes soft skill development a reality every day at Bongo. In the latest installment of our Employee Spotlight, Pierce Douglas goes full Star Wars nerd, gives us a glimpse of the band Haywyre, and explains why he would change places with Hitch’s girlfriend for a day.
Read previous installments of our Employee Spotlight on the blog, starting with the KimFu master, Kim Knab.
Name: Pierce Douglas
Title: Solutions Engineer
What is the coolest thing you’re working on right now? I just transitioned from a purely technical role to a sales-related role, so I’m mostly learning how to sell, but I’m also becoming sort of a communication filter (a translator, if you will) between the sales and development sides of the company. I love it, both teams are amazing.
If you could visit anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? I’ve always wanted to visit Japan. Something about the culture seems fascinating and mysterious to me. I’ve heard the skiing’s not bad either, so I’d like to try that.
What is the best concert you’ve ever attended? Haywyre. I’ve enjoyed jumping around in a crowd or two, but for this one I just relaxed up on the balcony and basked in Martin’s exceptional skill and beautiful presentation.
Do you have any hidden talents? I can wiggle each of my ears one at a time.
Who would you most like to switch places with for a day (this can be a celebrity, family member, animal, coworker, anybody you wish)? OpTic Hitch’s girlfriend. Hitch is the videographer for the professional gaming organization that I’m a fan of. He lives and works with some of the best esports athletes in the world and some of my favorite content creators, so to spend a day just chilling with him and the people he chills with would be so much fun.
What is your go-to karaoke song? I’ve never actually done karaoke yet, but if they’d let me, I’d pick Paganini by Andy Mineo. I’ve probably run through Canon’s verse, the third one, about 200 times.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Salad. Haters will say it’s a cop-out answer, but I think it’s genius. Caesar salad, chicken salad, fruit salad, macaroni salad…dessert salad? Salad salad? Yes please.
What is your all-time favorite movie? Star Wars. (“But that’s multiple movies!”) Yeah, I know. The new ones are OK too, but I’ll always enjoy the original six movies, the Clone Wars show, and various deeper looks into the world of the Clone Wars era and before.
How do you typically spend your free time? Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of weekends with my family and my fiancee’s family, but otherwise you can find me skiing, nerding out about the Bible, or playing Xbox with my friends.
